One day one of the children walked around the classroom asking friends what their favourite colour was. So at her math circle, Mrs. Jennings decided to create a tally chart asking friends if they liked fall or winter. The children loved doing the survey so we decided to place some small clipboards and tally charts at the math centre.

Each child had the opportunity to choose two different primary colours, place them in a zip-lock bag and then mix.
We placed some black play dough, google eyes, pipe cleaners and beads at the play dough centre. The children made some really cool play dough spiders. Take a look. Molly takes out her order book and takes the customers order. Logan looks carefully at the menu to see what he would like to order.
I had the opportunity to sit with Noah at the sand table and inquire about what he was doing.
TP: What are you doing Noah? Noah: I am making a ramp. The marble is going really fast. TP: What will happen to the marble if we add more sand to the ramp? Noah: It still goes down but it goes a little slower. TP. Let's add some more sand to the ramp. Noah: The marble stopped because there is too much sand. I am going to put another marble behind it, Look the marbles went down! TP: Why did that happen? Noah: It's because the marble hit that marble so it was heavier, so it went down the ramp and through the sand. We placed some white chalk, black construction paper and Halloween words at the language centre to encourage the children to practise their pencil grip and fine motor skills. They did a great job! The children had fun sorting Halloween rings at the math centre. We turned a kleenex into a friendly ghost at the craft centre. We had green soup and eyeballs at the water table! Finally we made candy kabobs.
