Olivia and Logan were drawing a picture on chart paper, They were using our Popcorn Word Wall to help them add words. It was wonderful to watch the collaboration between the two of them. Great work!
The students are still very excited about adding numbers. We placed another fun activity at the math centre for the students to explore numbers. We always talk with our students about the importance of eating healthy and excercising on a daily basis. So we took advantage of our Fit Week and went out everyday to walk the track to incorporate excercise into our daily schedule. We were so proud of how well all the students did! Great job JK/SK friends!
We decided to place some bags with two different colours at the science centre. The students had fun mixing them to create new colours and observing what two colours we could mix together to make new colours. Molly, Alexys and Olivia were having a lot of funny mixing the bags. They came to me and ask if we could add red and blue to the bag to see what colour it would change into. So we did! They predicted that it would turn purple. So they mixed and mixed and mixed. They were right when we mixed blue and red the paint turned purple.
The children have been very interested in adding numbers during our large group. We decided to place some manipulatives and writing material at our math centre and in our math bins. Both JK and SK students are challenging themselves to make and solve addition sentences. Way to go!
We have been talking about insects in class this past week. Keltin was at the science centre observing a piece of wood under our class magnifying glass. The wood had paths that ants had eaten through.
